FRIDAY AT MEDIA DAYS
Friday 07-24-2009 2:21pm ET
Things are winding down at SEC media days. What did we learn? Steve Spurrier didn't vote for Tebow (at least the person who filled out his ballot didn't). Tim Tebow is saving himself for marriage (not relevant). Lane Kiffin managed not to stick his foot in his mouth. It's been fun. We've got a great line up of guest this afternoon.

Birmingham/Hoover, Ala is a beautiful town.  We've enjoyed our two days here. I can't wait to get back to Macon. Headlines will return this weekend.

We've made it to Hoover. We're in place and ready to roll. More info to come soon.

Mike Vick will meet with Roger Goddell on Thursday or Friday. I wonder how much influence the UFL will have on Goddell's decision on weather or not to reinstate Vick.

The Atlanta Braves are red hot.

Nate McLouth hopes to be in the line up tonight.

Here's some Prado love. Martin Prado will be the key to the Braves down the stretch. He must continue to play at this high level in order for the Braves to make the playoffs.

Planning on going to the Braves game tonight? Leave now.

Buddy Carlyle makes a rehab start.

Jeremy Newberry may retire. The Falcons added him during the offseason to add depth to the O-line. If he does retire, it would be a serious blow to that depth,

May favorite golfer was on Letterman last night doing the top 10. Number 6 is my favorite. 7's pretty funny too.

Smoltz wets the bed and the BoSox fall into a tie with the Yankees. John said some pretty nasty stuff about the Braves management. Tommy Hanson struck out 11 and right now, I'll take KK over Smoltz any day of the week. The truth hurts. Kudos to Frank Wren.

Kelly Johnson shows us he can still hit.

My new favorite golfer will be on Letterman tonight.

G Bombs is coming on strong.

The Orlando Sentinel wonders if Florida needs to go undefeated to make the title game. I'll say it, Florida's schedule is weak. The Gators need Georgia and Arkansas to win more than 8 games to legitimize this schedule.

Chris Jackson transfers to Tech. I'm not a big fan of this at all. The kid gives a verbal to GT. He backs out because Chan Gailey was let go. Paul Johnson shocks the world in his first season. Now, Jackson wants back in. NO is what I would've said. I hope Jackson's got it together now. I don't think coach Johnson is much nicer than Nick Saban.

Tony Barnhart's blog.

Finally, I'm writing this at 9:16am so they may have caught up  by now. ESPN's failure to report on Ben Rothlisberger's incident in Nevada is shameful. I know there are no criminal charges. Yes, from a distance, it looks like the girl is out to get money. However, not reporting it can be only be interpreted as lazy, negligent and/or well let's just say Al Sharpton will be all over this one.

Later peeps...

GT's D gets some bad news.

Thrashers sign Kane.

Yunel named NL player of the week. Muy bueno!!!

I've needed a favorite golfer not named Tiger. Stewart Cink is my man.

Escobar plays nice with the media. Can't we all just get along? Por favor?

To deal or not to deal that's what Frank Wren must decide.

Josh Smith talks about going to team USA mini camp.

The Braves are on fire!! Could something special be brewing?

Well, the Phillies won..AGAIN. Braves 3.5 out of wild card. Lot's of games in progress while this was posted.

Tony Barhart's blog raises the possibility of GT playing ND at the GA dome.
-Paul Johnson and Mark Richt need to get together and keep the Alabamas of the world out of the state. Even if it means playing the GT/UGA game to start the year in the dome. I hope the ND game happens.

Mike Gonzalez and Javier Vazquez are ready to go for the second half.

There's a new Coke bottle at Turner Field. Watch this video and tell me if I missed something.

Who can stink it up for two years and get a standing ovation? Nice guys don't finish last a Turner Field, they get standing ovations.

Kudos to the old guy. Chipper came through in the clutch last night.

Here Tony Barnhart's latest blog. He's also being honored at the College Football Hall of Fame this weekend. How cool is that?

Here's an in-depth article from USA today about Mike Vick.

He went to jail not just for fighting dogs. He also tortured them. He electrocuted dogs and then denied any involvement in doing it. He hung dogs. He tortured and killed animals that could not defend themselves. He may be a changed man, but you can't forget what he did to those dogs was demented and evil.
